Free Screening Examination
Includes:
- Corneal topography-measurement of the curvature of the front and back of the cornea along with a check of corneal thickness.
- Measurement of the approximate glasses prescription
- Opportunity to view an educational video on the refractive procedure thought to be most likely to be used in your situation.
- Discussion of the results of these two tests as they relate to you. At the end of this screening, we have a good idea if you would be a good candidate for a refractive procedure.
Comprehensive Examination
Includes:
- Medical history.
- Discussion of employment and recreational visual requirements.
- A full understanding of the stability of your prescription and your age-related needs.
- Check of vision with and without correction.
- Careful check of your prescription both before and after dilation.
- Orbscan measurements of the cornea including curvature of the front, back, thickness, and regularity.
- WaveScan measurements which are 25 times more precise than the methods used for measuring for glasses and contact lenses.
- Tear testing including measurement of the volume of the tears and examination of the quality of the tear film.
- Measurement of the size of the pupil in the dark.
- Check of the movement of the eyes and their ability to work together.
- Evaluation of ocular dominance.
- Comprehensive examination of the health of the eyes including the eyelids, the cornea, conjunctiva, sclera, iris, lens, retina, optic nerve and intraocular pressure to evaluate for any diseases of the cornea, examination for cataracts and glaucoma, evaluation of the retina and optic nerve after dilation of the pupil.
- Educational videos and other material so as for you to learn as much as possible about the procedure thought to be best for you.
- Discussion of the risks, benefits and alternatives to laser vision correction as it applies to you and your eyes using all of the data that has been obtained.
- When all of this is completed all of your questions will be answered and we will attempt to anticipate questions not asked so as to best educate you as to your options.
- You will be given a large packet of information as to what to expect on the day of your procedure, prescription for medicines, and a comprehensive informed consent form.
